Why choose the England Logistics Freight Brokerage School?
The England Logistics Freight Brokerage School, freight broker training facility, and travelling seminars are built with the student in mind. The training you receive is the same training we give our in-house freight brokers who have made England Logistics the 13th largest freight brokerage company in the nation. We stand apart from other schools in that we actually do what we teach. You can be confident you will not be learning from one person's individual experiences but from knowledge and expertise gained over the last 90 years.

What is the potential for success?
Entrepreneur Magazine has ranked the freight brokerage business as one of the top home-based businesses in the U.S. Many brokers start their business as a work-from-home position and soon expand to renting or building office space. The largest brokerage company in the nation holds less than 5% of the current market share in a $110 billion industry. Not everyone succeeds but those who get up in the morning, make their calls, and truly put the effort into it are almost always successful and have unlimited income potential.
Who should attend?
Any person with strong motivation and the desire to start a new career as their own boss in a work-from-home atmosphere. Many people with experience in the transportation industry attend but experience is not necessary. Strong sales and communication skills are encouraged.
What is the difference between the class and a seminar? Who should attend?
Any person with strong motivation and the desire to start a new career as their own boss in a work-from-home atmosphere. Many people with experience in the transportation industry attend but experience is not necessary. Strong sales and communication skills are encouraged.
Classes are a 5-day course modeled on the same training we give our in-house sales representatives who have taken our brokerage from startup to 13th largest nationally. Seminars are a reduced cost, condensed 3-day version of our class that covers all the same material as the class but at a location near you.
How long is the course?
Classes - are one full business week (5 days) Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00PM
Seminars - are offered in a 3-day format Thursday-Saturday 8:00-5:00PM
Where is the course?
Classes - are held at the freight broker training facility at England Logistics' corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Seminars** - are held periodically in major cities across the nation. Check our class schedule to determine where the next seminar near you will be.
**Although we know it is extremely valuable to have students come to our freight broker training facility to see how a real freight brokerage operates and meet the brokers who have made us the 13th largest brokerage in the nation, we understand you might be restricted by time or distance. We extend these courses to help accommodate those needs.
What does a transportation broker do?
As a broker, you hold all the necessary licensing and certifications to operate your own brokerage business. You are responsible for finding your own customers, both shippers and carriers, as well as all other activities involved in operating your own business.
What does a transportation agent do?
As an agent, you become "sponsored" by an established brokerage company and solicit clients under their authority. You would be charged with identifying and establishing relationships with shippers and uncovering their shipping needs. You would then offer a solution to their shipping needs by procuring a transportation provider to move the freight from origin to destination. Most of the backend office work is supported by the agents' sponsor.
Does England Logistics offer employment assistance to graduating students?
YES. After graduation students receive a number of company names that offer sponsorships to graduating students. Students can apply with them or any of the many other brokerages who are continually looking to hire students from our prestigious program.

Does England Logistics sponsor graduating students?
NO. We have relationships with companies who can take our students and nurture them into successful agents. These programs are approved by EL because they offer sound business practices and the ability to work with our students as they get on their feet.
Please be weary of schools that take you no questions asked or allow you to pay to be sponsored. With the market needs the way they are, many companies are looking to hire you without charge. If you want to be successful, you want a company that will invest in you, not just take more from you when you need it most. If you pay $300/mo to be an agent how many loads do you need to move before you're out of the red? If you don't move anything that month you lose money?
How does a transportation agent typically get paid?
There are multiple variations to compensation programs. The most common way is for you to get paid a percentage of the margin that was made on a shipment. For example, if you quote your shipper $2,500 to move their load, and then purchase a solution from a carrier for $2,000, the margin you generated on the shipment would be $500. Your "split" would be a percentage of the $500 that you take as your income. This model is explored extensively during the freight broker training class and seminar.
How does a transportation broker get paid?
Brokers operate their own business and receive any compensation they can generate from their own efforts. For example, if you quote your shipper $2,500 to move their load, then purchase a solution from a carrier for $2,000, the margin you generated on the shipment would be $500. You use that money to pay for your expenses and use as your profit. This model is explored extensively during the freight broker training class and seminar.

What type of financial investment is required when starting a brokerage?
Licensing and insurance are the most costly aspects of starting your own brokerage and should be considered carefully. Once your business is established cost is typically very small requiring only a computer, fax machine and telephone. Many large companies today started in the basement of someone’s home.
